More than 400,000 home battery storage units have been installed around Australia under the federal government’s Cheaper Home Batteries Program, equating to 11.2GWh of cumulative storage capacity in less than a year since the scheme launched.
According to Climate Change and Energy minister Chris Bowen, installations are proceeding at approximately 2,000 batteries per day.

The months of strong growth in lending took a turn in March, according to data released this month by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS).
The figures show that the number of new home loans fell 6.2 per cent to 139,794 in the March quarter 2026. Lending nevertheless remains at high levels, with total new home loans 8.6 per cent higher than a year ago.

New home sales continue to flourish, according to a monthly survey of Australia’s larger home builders.
The latest HIA New Home Sales report has revealed that sales of new homes increased by 4.9 per cent in the month of April.

France has passed legislation mandating all large commercial carparks in the country to install solar panels, effectively turning millions of square metres of bitumen into major clean energy assets.
