Room too big? Zone it

We all love the idea of open-plan living, but large spaces in the home can sometimes feel incomplete. It can also be difficult to have a conversation in one part while the family is playing in another.

Consider creating zones by adding an open bookcase to house ornaments, plants and your favourite books. The objects will help absorb sound, while the shelves offer a visual break. If you prefer a softer impact, try a low cupboard or shelving unit, topped with a couple of healthy pot plants.
