THE Evans Head Bombers are one step closer to the minor premiership after a 26-20 win over Northern United at Crozier Field, Lismore, on Saturday.

The Bombers maintain their top spot on the ladder as they go into the final competition round and supporters could not be happier.

A healthy crowd of Bombers supporters were at the Lismore game to cheer the team on and the Evans Head Bombers Rugby League Football Fan Club Facebook page had plenty to say.

"Yesterday was as good a crowd for an away game that I've heard," supporter Ian O'Rourke wrote.

"If there was any more yelling, Lismore City Council would have been forking out for a new roof on their stands."

Others are looking forward to a home game semi-final.

"Love you long-time Bombers, so proud of both teams today, congratulations," wrote Anne Dries

Evans Head Under-18s also won their game against Northern United 18-14.

The Bombers will now face off for a chance at the minor premiership at Stan Sercombe Oval against Murwillumbah this Saturday, August 9. The Under-18s kick-off at 12pm. First grade follows at 3pm.

Down but still up: ABS dwelling approvals

The residential building see-saw continues, with new data showing another dip in approvals to build apartments but a rise in renovations.

Figures released this week by the Australian Bureau of Statistics show that the number of dwellings approved fell 1.2 per cent in June 2015, in trend terms. There was no monthly change in the number of house approvals, however the ever-volatile multi-unit sector recorded a fall of 2.4 per cent over June.

To put that into perspective, apartment approvals remain 31.0 per cent higher than in June 2014...

Location rules

There is little doubt that location is an important factor in property values, but London’s most expensive street tops all others by 150 per cent!

Britain's top postcodes have just been revealed in Zoopla's 2015 Property Rich List and once again W8, the west London home of Kensington Palace and Kensington Palace Gardens ("Billionaires Row"), has once again been named the capital's most exclusive postcode. Zoopla reports its mega mansions and private estates are worth £42.6 million - 150 times the national average.

Kitchen oil grime: be gone

Oil spatters are an inevitable part of cooking, but easy enough to clean up afterwards. Airborne oil particles, on the other hand, are less obvious and over time form a nasty film which is difficult to remove.

The most common areas affected by this problem are the kitchen cabinets, stove vent filter, stove hood. But the tacky coating of grime also ends up on appliances and other surfaces in the kitchen as the grease circulates through the air. Here are some quick and easy ways to remove it without nasty chemicals...

No change to interest rates

Once again the Reserve Bank has left the official cash rate at its current record low 2 per cent, for the third month in a row.

There was little to glean from Governor Glenn Stevens’ statement accompanying the decision, which barely changed from the previous month. So we can probably assume there are likely to be no movements up or down in the foreseeable future.

Sofa, so good

Imagine having a stylish, all-weather sofa that looks just a good inside as outdoors, and is so light you can move it with one hand.

Designer Janne Kyttanen’s Sofa So Good is a full-sized, fully-functional lounger coated in high polish copper and chrome. Created using a 3D printer, the sofa weighs just 2.5 kilos, but the super strong structure means it’s capable of supporting up to 100 kilos.
