Have you ever seen a battle-axe block advertised in property listings and wondered whether it’s for you?

So-called because its shape is similar to an axe handle and blade, the battle-axe block is a quite-often large area of land behind another one, with a long driveway for access. It’s normally the result of a sub-division of an existing block. There are definite pros (such as quiet, privacy and space for kids to play) and some cons – be very clear on whether the driveway is included in the title or you simply have ‘right of way’.
