Good time to buy – or sell

If you’re thinking of putting your home on the market, now looks like a very good time to do it, with new research showing consumer sentiment is at a four-year high.

The ANZ-Roy Morgan Australian Consumer Confidence continued its upward trend this week, climbing 1.2 per cent to 123.5, the highest point since October 2013.

The ‘current finances’ sub-index rose 2.0 per cent last week following a solid 5.8 per cent rise the week prior. At the same time, views around future financial conditions eased a touch (-0.2 per cent). Nevertheless, both sub-indices sit above their long-term average.

Sentiment around the ‘time to buy a household item’ improved a solid 3.4 per cent lifting the index well above its long-term average.

On a broader scale, sentiment around current economic conditions rose 1.4 per cent, bringing the index to its highest value since March 2013.
