New skin to boost solar cell longevity

Australia leads the world in the adoption of solar power, so it is good to see that researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology have developed a material that will improve the longevity of the solar panels we’re installing.

The new, lightweight polymer coating known as 2DPA-1 has the potential to boost the longevity of perovskite solar cells by limiting the corrosive damage that gas particles can inflict on photovoltaic panels.
