Let’s go look at some homes…

This weekend we celebrate Permaculture Day, with open homes and events everywhere. Also in the news, where most people live; and our financial ‘fitness’ is improving, it seems…

Baby Boomer's having their cake and eating it too!

Where to retire is a big question for the baby boomer generation but if you’re in a financially sound position you don’t necessarily have to choose just one location.

Many of my retiring clients in this situation are choosing to ‘have their cake and eat it too’.  They want the ongoing holiday lifestyle but don’t want to give up their friends or family roots. Read More

Where is everyone going?

Inner-city suburbs are the most densely populated, but new suburbs on the capital city fringes are gaining favour, the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) reported this week.

The ABS publication Regional Population Growth, 2011-12 names not only the most densely populated areas in the country, but also where the most rapid growth is occurring...

Be prepared to avoid pain

Renovators who end up in a legal dispute with their builder could find that legal fees and repairs cost them more than the renovation, building industry experts have warned.

Just go with what you feel

Comfort is a curious thing. The way you relax on a couch can vary greatly, depending on the type of day you've had, what you're wearing, and who else is around.

It doesn't really matter what kind of day you've had or who else is around with the Feel Deluxe sofa by Animi Causa, because the modular shape and function mould to almost any form imaginable. Made from 120 large, soft and extremely comfortable balls connected by joints, the seat can be laid out flat, folded, stacked or squished into whatever form suits your mood.

15-minute cleanout

Now that the kids are back at school, take fifteen minutes to make a dramatic change in one small area of your house by clearing some clutter.

First, pick one drawer or shelf in your house to clean out – don’t try to do more than this now.
Next, grab five boxes and label them as follows, so that you have somewhere to put each item you find.

1. Give Away. 2. Sell. 3. Store. 4. Throw away. 5. Keep

Make decisions quickly – remember you only have 15 minutes to do this. Once the drawer or shelf is empty, wipe it down and replace the ‘Keep’ items. Put the ‘Throw-aways’ in the bin and the ‘Store’ items away in their box. Have the ‘Give Away’ and ‘Sell’ items ready to take with you in the car next time you go out, so they don’t hang around the house.
